Thomas
Barganski is a 20-year-old drummer with 5 years of experience
under his belt. His true inspiration comes from his
Uncle Mike Hammel, whom was Tom's first and current
only teacher. Upon the time of his freshman year in
high school, his uncle died, changing Tom's life forever,
as to follow in his uncle's footsteps of drumming.
The end of his junior
year of high school, his friends finally convinced him
into trying to get into the marching band for senior
year. And even though Tom had no prior experience in
a school band, he pulled out his uncle's sticks, and
rap-tap-tapped away on a desk as an "audition".
The band director, from that moment on, knew he had
a keeper. Tom worked day and night practicing his routine
for the set, and struggled with the ever-changing ways
of the band crew that was highered. But in the end,
he helped his marching band win their championship,
with his special solo right before the last song in
the set. Tom was setting the tempo, and keeping the
audience intrigued to what would happen next
If you know the movies,
then you must know the theme songs. The themes we did
we from old Alfred Hitchcock movies, opened by 'North
by Northwest', leading in 'Vertigo', and followed by
Tom's solo into 'Psycho'.
Although Tom was only
in the pit of marching band, he was always the star
of the show. There was always a pit feature to every
song, as well as dynamics. The N by NW pit feature was
by far the most fun. Jeff was a fellow pit member, and
a bass drum lover, and during the feature, Tom and Jeff
would quickly switch positions from the, ironically
named, tom drums and bass drum to do a perfectly times
duel solo, then at the end join in by the whole percussion
team.
Marching band was always
Tom's favorite place to be. It was like a family to
him, and vice versa.
Since that time Tom has
been drumming with friends who play guitar, such as
Shane and Ben, but never really feeling as though the
wanted a band as bad as he did. He has been looking
into a few bands, but not finding the right people yet.
But still looking none the less.
But still knowing his
roots, and knowing who he owes his career to; CPS AKB
AR SB BRL JK DU EB DB VN. And two special IOUs to my
mother who was always pushing me in the best direction,
and my Uncle Mike, May God rest your soul! |
