- In my previous life before I became a poet,
I lived in a technical world and thought of myself
as a scientist. I carved a robust career for myself
as a software and systems engineer for the U.
S. Department of the Navy. My writing career began
when poetry began coming to me in an automatic
fashion during my meditations.
Initially, a poem
would germinate from an emotion that arrived in
the present, stimulated by memories of the past.
Then suddenly the emotion would be expressed,
cloaked in metaphor. As my poems became brighter,
my days and nights were illuminated with the brilliance
of the moon and the stars and the warmth of the
sun. At last, my dream to live in California came
true.
After I moved, my
poems continued to grace me with their presence,
arriving during walks along the beaches, mountains
and the desert. One morning, I awoke from a dream
with the understanding that I was to publish my
poems. This was a rather unpopular choice to the
part of me who cherishes her privacy. However,
the side of me who was eternally grateful for
the healing and growth achieved, coached the fearful
one. Upon mutual agreement with my selves, I affirmed
my intent to offer to the universe this gift in
the form of a book. Once that decision was made,
I was contacted by a publisher and shortly thereafter,
Recovering Stolen Dreams was born.
I have recently
published my second epic entitled For The Love
Of My Dreams which is about a love of a higher
order that all of humanity is about to embrace.
I have since begun to use my poetry as a catalyst
to stimulate the creativity of others for the
purpose of introducing them to their own voice
of inner wisdom.
I teach workshops
on self-empowerment through creative expression,
because I am convinced that a world of peace consists
of inhabitants who are at peace within. No one
is at peace until they have found their own voice
of truth and self-empowerment.
I have spoken at
St. John the Divine Cathedral in NYC as well as
other churches, seminaries, libraries, theaters,
universities and health spas throughout the northeast.
